“San Pasqual was a Franciscan monk who was assigned to his monastery’s kitchen, where he found cooking to be an act of worship. He was known to serve the poor special meals, and never let his own leftovers go to waste. In art, he is often depicted with the monstrance due to his devotion to the Eucharist. He is a patron saint of cooks and kitchens and it is said that every Catholic kitchen needs a San Pasqual. Of course for my paintings, I had to add a little heritage with the “holy trinity” and big pot of gumbo.”

Lindsey, the artist, focuses on religious and local art in Acadiana. She chose Great Thou Art as her studio name because it was one of her grandmother’s favorite hymns. Lindsey also loves that the song title ties in her love for art!
